Diary From A Dad / October 2024

Diary From a Dad, I look at what happened in our family life as each month goes by, with School, Work, outings, and general family life many challenges face us, but how do we get through the month and what happens? October! Horray, one of our favourite months and we saw Halloween among other events.

As I’ve said before I love this time of year, Septembers great but in reality October is where it really kicks off, the Weather really turns…even though it was a very mild October, pumpkin spice Latte and Halloween around the corner, for s this was no different and add the fact it was Half term at the end of the month, which also included Halloween, a rare treat. But it was the only thing really happening.

The Month

Boo was continuing her new job working with schools and Flu season, its long winded but its essentially that. We were getting into a Rhymn as we rotated with the kids etc, my work was obviously getting busier being in retail so it was all go. As for the kids they were all at school like normal but Roo continued her early work towards deciding the next step with University etc.

Octobers Half term can often be a busy one as we balance world events and Boo’s work which often see invites to different places etc, similar to summer we opted to focus on more Local stuff, a trip to a Local wildlife park and a walk around spooky themed model village was a surprisingly fun day.

Spooky Pleasure Beach

We went to visit Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach in their Halloween-themed events, they do a special theme night which can be loud and scary with actors good around the park, however, even though the older two would be fine with this we found in the past that Piglet didn’t like the scares. Unfortunately, Boo had to work last minute so I took them for her event. The afternoon was actually quite good, the weather was ok…just.. but even though there were people it wasn’t rammed and the kids had one of those days where they wanted to go on lots.

Halloween

Halloween itself went well, we. decorated internally at the beginning of the month and added some more stuff like last year by using these clearance sales, it worked, you may have to wait a year to use them but they are significantly cheaper. On the day itself, we did a small display outside as I mentioned last year, the area we now live in is not as hot as the previous one so we don’t get as many people now. Foodwise we ventured to LIDL with their offering of spooky-themed food, it was actually quite good and cooked well.

Next Month

Next month is the Birthday month! all three kids! with Xmas prep and other things its that crazy time of year.
