As each month goes by my Diary from a Dad look at what’s happening with our little family, through all the adventures, challenges and obstacles that come to our lives. As a family of 5, with 3 children at different ages every day, week and month can offer something different. With the confirmation that we were planning, August was full of prep, but now September was time for the move, to add to our worries the School return was happening at the same time!

The Move
If we are honest our focus for the month was completely down to moving and the school return, with us moving right at the beginning of the month we left ourselves with a short amount of time between the move and the kids return. For the actual move we had managed to get an overlap of days and arrange for a moving company (man with a van) to help with the big furniture etc, as you can imagine moving a family of 5 is tough and lots to organise, and to be fair we don’t have lots of excess stuff, especially as we used this as a sort out time.
The kids as ever were very good and helpful, in the prep in August and the move in September they have been great, I don’t always talk about it but our kids are genuinely great, there helpful, quiet, well-behaved kids and at these moments their behaviour is helpful for stresses and organisation. The move itself went relatively smoothly, lots of boxes, lots to sort out but with everything, it was a longer process but this was intentional, even as we head into October we arent quite there yet,
A low-key school return
Usually, School return is a big deal and don’t get me wrong it still was but it was a little subdued etc, Roo saw her beginnings in Sixth form after her relatively successful grades, this is her time now to start focusing on what she likes and wants to work towards, as opposed to School where you learn a bit of everything.
Piglet and Tigger in reality were approaching a normal year, Tigger was at the second year of High school which for me was always good because you were no longer the Nooby class/year, but also the GCSE pending focus hasn’t quite hit yet. Piglet was beginning Key Stage 2 but to be honest, this was a normal year of progression.
Cinema LOTR
For the rest of the month normal family time resumed and we all began to get more settled into a new house, for Tigger and I there was a highlight, the Lord of the Rings extended Trilogy was at the cinema, something that Tigger hadn’t experienced, and I had only seen the normal versions at the cinema, but both being fans of LOTR this weekly trip to see all three parts was fantastic and a great experience for us both.
As we spearhead into next month we continue my favourite time of year with Pumpkin spice, Halloween and the prep for birthdays and Xmas.
