Diary From A Dad / September 2024

Diary From a Dad, I look at what happened in our family life as each month goes by, with School, Work, outings, and general family life many challenges face us, but how do we get through the month and what happens? It was the month of school returns! Normally, it is a big month and the beginning of my favourite time of the year.

School time

Historically September is a busy month, we normally have things planned at the end of the summer holidays while both our wedding anniversary and my birthday all happen at the beginning of the month. Then with 3 kids at different age groups it meant different challenges with there returns and priorities of school returns.

However this year felt quite a normal year, Piglet was still going throw primary school and just a normal year, Tigger was arguably facing his last of year of normal education before the GCSE ramp up, While Roo was continuing her sixth form adventure the looming decision making of universities decision etc is hanging in the background.

Legoland

We managed to squeeze in an annual outing right before school return, we often found the last couple of days between school return and bank holiday is normally quieter, but this year we tagged in a day at Legoland, as you may have read we are big fans of Lego so it was always a great place to visit, in recent years our visits there have become less frequent so its an enjoyable day, though contrary to what I was just saying it was busy!

Estabulo

Boo and I celebrated our anniversary but enjoying a meal at Estabulo, a Brazilian place that brings the meat in an all you cant ear style to you while you enjoy the salad bar. It’s one of my favourite places but a little pricey so it is a rare occasion we would ever go to it. A selection of different steaks, gammon, sausage, chicken heart, and Halloumi among others, my favourite was the Brazilian steak.

Piglets meal

The food adventure didn’t stop with Piglet and I enjoying lunch together, on the way too and back from school we go past a Marston which don’t get me wrong isn’t the most special place in the role but Piglet talks about it every week, so we agreed to go, Boo and I had only been once in 7 years so it was good to give it a second chance. It’s ironic that Piglet’s friend was there so they played together on the play area but we did enjoy a good meal, she even tried kebab meat which was unusual

Next month

October continues my favourite time of year, with the weather changes, pumpkin latte, and Halloween.
