MCM Comic Con is a major event around the world celebrating pop culture, they can vary from county to country based on its own popularity in brands and franchises. In the UK there are a few over the year taking part in cities including London, Birmingham etc… At these events, they also have their own official merchandise stalls, as well as having their own Mystery box like other companies that attend.
We have visited the MCM Comic-con in London a couple of times and like many, have purchased various pop culture themed items for Tigger, Roo and me, even Boo has had a Harry Potter-themed present from there. On our adventures there we noticed that MCM Comic-con were selling their own version of the Mystery boxes, so I was keen to see if these were worth the purchase? We attended the event on the last day (Sunday)and these were reduced which meant it was even more worth the try.

The Box
The box itself was similar-sized to most other companies out there, though it did very a little heavier, once opened the box was mostly full, which isn’t always the case. At first glance there seemed a variety of items, Tigger picked out a Harry Potter Wand, a Luna Lovegood one, which is of good quality and can be at least £15-£25 to purchase depending on where u go, so already a good start.
This was followed by another Harry Potter item in the form of a Chocolate frog box Badge, this was surprisingly good and for those who love badges, this is good.
We carry on the Harry Potter theme with a Liquid Luck Tea! this is unusual with its design and idea, and for a Harry Potter Collector a really good thing.
the next Harry Potter item saw a bottle of Wolfsbane Potion, the design is great with a little wolf to attach to the bottle, it was nice to see no ingredients on the back to show realism. inside it looks Blue GLitter but it does make it look very similar to its original design.
The first movie-style poster sees the Original Horror Show Frankenstein, which is a replica of the original if you’re a fan of this then it’s great and you could easily frame this.
The next item was a return to Harry Potter but with a different design, looking at the Tri wizard cup with flames coming out but inside the white showing a dragon, all set from the Goblet of Fire Film/Book. It’s a little Japanese in style but looks amazing, and is easily a great one to frame, it’s extremely artistic.
Tigger also really liked the Transformers Premium Notebook, with a striking Yellow colour (perhaps a nod to Bumblebee), with an old school design of the button closer of the notebook, which looks far more like a journal.
Next was the first of the triple Star Wars items, like the pin badge earlier that often gets used in these, the Keyring is also here but in the style of Darth Vader.
The next Star Wars item was an Air freshener in the design of a stormtrooper head, this was a little different in these type boxes but for me, a car owner, I was fine with this.
The Last Star wars item was a Mug based on the new trilogy and show Poe, Rey and Finn on the box and a Stormtrooper on the mug itself, with it being white and the red New order style colours dotted around. It’s fine, there’s no doubt plenty more designs they could have gone with but hey ho.
The last three items were all special movie posters from the same franchise the first being Back to the Future part 1, it shows the front of the Delorean, the clock tower and Marty playing the Guitar.
The second shows the middle part of the Delorean, Biff Tower in the back round and Marty this time riding a hoverboard.
The last shows the back end of the Delorean, the wild west version of the town, and this time Marty in his Wild west gear, all three are fantastic, lined up in frames they would look awesome and as a back to the future fan, this was brilliant.
Overall
Overall the question still stands, is it worth buying these type of mystery boxes, and they are a mystery and could be completely not your thing, for me, I was absolutely fine with almost all of this, especially as there was something for all of us. I do think the price is something to consider, and if you are attending multiple days, or attending the last, then looking for these at a reduced price is well worth it.
At full price, I think you still like any other mystery box need to make that decision for yourself. But as Mystery boxes go, this was a really good one compared to several other brands, you may be missing that big thing(if there is ever) but a variety and different selection of the type of items are good.
That is a pretty cool mystery box, especially for a collector. The Wolfsbane Potion looks so cool and authentic! What is inside the bottle? I like the Back to the Future posters, I actually re-watched all three movies recently.
The mystery box was stuff full of all sorts of fun goodies. I think my girls would be excited to try the liquid luck tea!!!
What a fantastic mystery box this is with tons of goodies especially if you are a Star Wars and Harry Potter fan, I totally love the Original Horror Show Frankenstein poster.
I did not know there was a comic-con mystery box how awesome, I know a few friends who attend comic-con and would definitely love a box like this one.
I love the sound of the mystery box and the contents look great. How much did you pay for it?
This is perfect if you love Star Wars/Harry Potter but you may be a little disappointed in what comics/films you get memorabilia for.
C x
This seems like a great box in terms of how much you get, but if you’re not a star wars or harry potter fan then you would be a bit stuck x
Oh wow this looks a brilliant box to get . Alessia would really love this! Love the wolfsbane potion and the frankie poster
That looks like a very cool box!! So many fab things! I know the boys in my house would love it!
I love all the Star Wars and Harry Potter items. The notebook is fab too. I wouldn’t be that bother about the posters as I have no where to put them.
