We all enjoy all sorts of different movies, I myself have quite a varied taste in them. Like movies, music, games, TV programs, etc I do not have a defined favourite, though LOTR probably goes the closest on Movies, but in reality, I don’t have a favourite or have an overall top 5 of anything. I have to break it down into categories and subjects.
With Movies it’s more so, I like a variety of them, including romance and dramas, within that is “chick flick” films, which if you don’t know what it means, essentially its stereotypical films for Women/Girls, again it’s all a bit stereotypical.
But I know there are several people out there that actually like these films, they may be ashamed to say it, or don’t want to, or may even not want to admit it but I do. For many years I’ve enjoyed watching them, when I was little with my Mum and Sister, or when I’ve been with my wife, iv watched lots of them! some are rubbish and some have been good.
I don’t exactly discuss it with my friends, it’s not that I’m hiding it but I’m also not going out of my way to tell them, but in reality, if there’s one thing I’m sure about if anyone actually knows me, they know that I have a slight camper/women taste in a lot of areas, like music and Films.
So what are some good Chick flick films? don’t get me wrong I realise below some will have opinion its not a “chick flick” film, so some would say there should be “X” film in my list, but that’s fine its all down to own perspective and my taste even in these have slightly changed over the years, Heres 5 of my favourites, not in any particular order and also I’ve tried to not spoil the film in case you haven’t watched it yet, which you should.

Dirty Dancing
One of the first chick flick films I remember, and came out in 1987 and based in 1963 when a young teenager on holiday falls in love with a dance teacher, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Arguably the soundtrack is as memorable as the film and still gets remembered today, its an excellent film and is arguably one of the most iconic films of its genre.
Wedding Date
This one was the opposite in being a known film, a film that came out in 2005 starring Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney, Amy Adams, and among a few other British actors, and that’s actually a big thing, its largely a British film and is a good watch, one of mine and Boos favourites to always watch and is special to us, let alone it has a great soundtrack with Michael Buble songs that were a little unknown at that point.
Sweet Home Alabama
In 2002 this film came out, and Boo and I have loved it ever since then and watch it at least twice a year, Starring Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, Patrick Dempsey among others, set in Alabama in which Witherspoon returns home to finalise a divorce. Its soundtrack is also good, but I love a lot of American things, including Southern culture so this is highly enjoyable.
You’ve Got Mail
Starring Tom Hanks (one of my favourite actors) and Meg Ryan from 1998 was the third film they had done together after Joe vs the Volcano and the hugely popular Sleepless in Seattle which could be on this list but we class it more of a Xmas film, though it is an excellent Chick flick Film.
This film followed the two meeting over early versions of chat rooms, when the internet was still in its infancy (and dial tone) as they would write to each other, meanwhile unknowingly in each other’s lives in their day to day lives. I love this film, and boo and I have watched this countless times, its heartwarming and great, the first film that showed me a variation of Starbucks coffee, and you know I love coffee.
Definitely Maybe
I’m a big fan of Ryan Reynolds, and this film goes under the radar a lot, from 2008 he is a divorced father telling his daughter about his great loves and how he met his wife/ mum to child, also starring Isla Fisher, Elizabeth Banks, Rachel Weisz, all set in the ’90s through the nirvana and Bill Clinton fazes. We adore this film, it’s sad, happy with all sorts of emotions, like Dirty Dancing the Nostalgia, is great as part of the story, but it’s a good film, and one of my favourites as it always cheers me up.
There are some others worth mentioning, Notebook, Pretty Women, My best friends wedding, Clueless, Legally Blonde, Bridget Jones diary, Titanic, Never Been kissed, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, the proposal, He’s just not that into you, 27 Dresses are certain films that could all make the list.
There are a few that would be on the list but i find them really classed as comedies (again i know there’s cross Genres etc) like Bridesmaids, Wedding Singer, 50 First dates, Train Wreck, etc.. and that will probably be a list for another date, as could teen flicks like 10 Things I hate about you, She’s All That, Drive me Crazy, The Last Dance, Down to You, Cruel Intentions.
Overall
Overall I do enjoy the films and we will often watch these fairly often, narrowing it down is very difficult and I’m sure people would also struggle to have there owned list, but more than likely it will be different to mine, and others and I have no doubt there will be others that I have missed and will probably kick myself as soon as I’ve finished it
